Ginko

Skincare for Teenagers

Collaborators: Rachana Rachaprolu

The beauty industry is overflowing with skincare products developed to nurture your skin. With most brands catered towards women, it pushes teenagers, especially with skin conditions, to use products with ingredients that are far too harsh for their delicate skin.

Ginko is a herbal skincare line for all teenagers compromising of essential minerals produced with advanced technology. By designing products that will cater to specific needs of the user, we want to educate the youth on the importance of health and hygiene, inculcating a culture of self-love and self-care, while promoting a healthier lifestyle.

The primary target audience are teenagers (13-19 years) of all genders, being introduced to skincare as well as those who are looking to try new products.

Other buyers would include interested parents who would like for their children to take care of their skin.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The name is derived from 'ginkgo', a species of medicinal trees which have proved to be helpful and resilient to environmental calamities over centuries. This accurately represents the safe haven we aspire to be for our young users and provide shade and comfort through our products.

NOMENCLATURE

The word is shortened from the original ‘ginkgo’, for ease of pronunciation. With the use of a rounded san serif font, the logo exhibits a feeling of  playfulness accompanied with lots of energy while remaining approachable. The hanging tittle of the ‘i’ provides the energy to the form, giving it the freedom to move around.

LOGO

The chosen colour scheme is largely inspired by the colours of the ginkgo leaf. The bright colours carry with them the energy that resonates with our target audience. The colours chosen are also gender neutral i.e. neither typically masculine or feminine. By avoiding the use of green, and bringing in variations of blue, the colour palette is now open to a lot more combinations of colours, which allows us to dive into a more abstract representation of the ginkgo leaf.

The ginkgo leaf is used as the main motif in the visual language.
